Biography

Judith Cosmas is a dedicated paediatrician and Early Childhood Development (ECD) specialist with 11 years of clinical experience at Muhimbili National Hospital, Tanzania's premier healthcare institution. As an ECD Champion with the Paediatric Association of Tanzania, she has established herself as a leading voice in advancing evidence-based approaches to child development across the country. Her work is distinguished by a commitment to holistic child development that encompasses physical health, cognitive growth, and socio-emotional wellbeing.

Central to Dr. Cosmas's clinical practice is her advocacy for breastfeeding as a foundational element of responsive caregiving. Her research interests focus on practical interventions that support caregivers in fostering holistic child development, with particular emphasis on promoting optimal infant feeding practices and understanding the profound impact of breast milk on children's immediate health and long-term developmental trajectories.

Dr. Cosmas holds a medical degree from Muhimbili University and completed specialized training in paediatrics with additional certification in Early Childhood Development from Haifa University in Israel. She was selected for the prestigious Global Leaders for Young Children program (2022-2023 cohort), where she collaborated with international experts to develop innovative solutions to early childhood challenges.
